Safety rules explained

1. Switch off before touching

Always disconnect the power source before changing a connection, moving a wire or repairing a device. In labs, verify with the teacher before energizing again.

2. Inspect cables and plugs

Do not use cables with cuts, exposed conductors, loose plugs, melted insulation or burning smells. Damaged insulation can expose energized parts.

3. Keep electricity away from water

Wet hands and wet floors reduce protection and increase the possibility of electric shock. Keep drinks away from circuits and chargers.

4. Use extension cords temporarily

Extension cords should not be used as permanent wiring. Do not cover them with rugs, overload them or connect many cords together.

5. Follow supervision and instructions

Electrical practices should be performed with clear instructions, proper instruments and supervision. If you are unsure, stop and ask.
